Americas Regional Caucus

One King West Hotel, King Gallery Room

Toronto, Canada

September 24, 2022

11:30 am – 1 pm

This Americas Regional Caucus was staged as a hybrid event participated by 56 delegates (35 in-person and 21 online). It was co-chaired by Cindy Ho, HKCBA National Chair and Donald Moore, NUSHKBA President. HKLABA President Eduardo Frei, FHKBAW Chairman Hans Poulis, HKTDC Regional Director, Americas, Regina Lai, and HKETO (Toronto) Director, Emily Mo were invited to give remarks and share their insights on a number of subjects of close interest to the gathering including the latest announcement of the 0+3 health-monitoring arrangements for arrivals to Hong Kong, the promising future for the Federation momentum development and how associates of the three member associations in the Americas would leverage the Hong Kong platform and Federation network to tap the growing opportunities in the Asian market especially under the GBA and RCEP initiatives in the new normal.

Leaders of the three Americas constituents of FHKBAW, viz. HKCBA, NUSHKBA and HKLABA, discussed enthusiastically and unanimously on furthering closer co-operation so as to create more values for members and foster kinship amongst the Hong Kong Family members in the Americas. At the meeting, the subject of nurturing and engaging youth in the Hong Kong association development was also discussed, and good experience and insights were shared.

In addition to participating in the main programme of the Americas Regional Caucus on September 24, 2022, some delegates from across Canada and the US also joined the Welcome Reception on September 22, and some were also amongst the 190 participants in the HKCBA National Conference “Succeeding in Asia and Beyond through Hong Kong” in Toronto on September 23, 2022.

This was the first in-person (with supplementary online participation) Americas Regional Caucus since the outbreak of COVID, and was the largest meeting of its kind so far. All the participants, in-person and online, have enjoyed re-connecting with old contacts and meeting new ones. It was an excellent start for the relaunch of the Federation momentum in the Americas in the new normal.
