The 2016 HKCBA National Caucus was held on June 4, 2016 in Calgary. In addition, a Welcome Reception was held on June 2, as well as a HKCBA National Conference and a HKCBA Gala Dinner were staged on June 3, 2016. The 3-day event was well attended by over 200 HKCBA members from across Canada. Highlights of the events are: The Welcome Reception on June 2 at The Craft Beer Market provided an ideal platform for the delegates to relax and “warm up”, and network with fellow members from across the country. HKCBA family kinship was greatly enhanced. The HKCBA National Conference on June 3 featured business and government leaders sharing their insights and experience on business opportunities in Asia, and advice on how Canadian companies can leverage the Hong Kong platform to tap these opportunities. A HKCBA National Investment Pitch Competition was also held for six post-secondary student teams to present their business plan on export promotion via Hong Kong. The HKCBA Gala Dinner on June 3 was addressed by The Hon. Gregory So, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR Government. Mr. So briefed the gathering on the Belt and Road Initiative and encouraged Canadian companies to partner with Hong Kong as their Super Connector to explore the BRI opportunities. A Business Leader Award and a HKCBA Section Member Engagement Award were also presented. The HKCBA National Board Meeting on June 4 received updated reports from Sections across the country, reviewed and discussed the Governance and Organizational Development Committee Report as well as the Communications Committee Report. The HKCBA AGM of Members was also held.
