Mr. Keung together with a Japanese partner built up Fenix Hong Kong Ltd as a supplier of Japanese yarn to Hong Kong companies in 1972. By 1980, they integrated the knitwear trading and manufacturing activities, with Japan as the core market. From 2000, Fenix developed premium markets in Japan, Europe and U.S. and became one of the market’s foremost suppliers, with an annual output of 6,000,000 pieces. Fenix diversified its business by starting fashion retailing business in 1980s and it became one of the major Hong Kong fashion retailers, operating 12 high fashion brands and 109 shops worldwide, including her own brand, Anteprima. As the fashion retailing business blossomed, Fenix began to explore new horizons – the establishment of City ‘super as a lifestyle mega store catering to a quality-conscious, up-market clientele. At the year end of 2008, the Group had grown to embrace 20 regional companies, 12 production lines and 109 retail stores worldwide employing a staff team of 6,000, and achieved an annual turnover well over US$400 million. |
