Pan-PRD Trip to Fujian()
27 – 29 October 2008

The Pan-PRD region is an important manufacturing base and consumer market endowed with rich natural resources and technology, as well as a skilled employee base. It includes nine provinces, which accounted for 30.5 per cent of the mainland’s retail sales, 31.7 per cent of the mainland’s GDP and 38.3 per cent of its exports in 2006.

Fujian Province is located along the southeastern coast, opposite Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait. Fujian has an area of 121,400 square kilometres and a population of 35.6 million. In 2006, its GDP grew by 14 per cent, to RMB761.5 billion. Retail sales of consumer goods rose by 15.3 per cent, to RMB270.4 billion. Because of its closeness, geographically and culturally, to Taiwan, Fujian benefits from Taiwanese investment.

An important mainland financial market, and one of China’s most popular tourist attractions, Fujian is well worth visiting.
