Fujian Province is located along the southeastern coast, opposite Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait. Fujian has an area of 121,400 square kilometres and a population of 35.6 million. Because of its closeness, geographically and culturally, to Taiwan, Fujian benefits from Taiwanese investment.
Hong Kong and Fujian are economically tied. Hong Kong is the largest source of Foreign Direct Investment in Fujian, accounting for 41% of the province's utilised FDI. The Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway, expected to be completed in 2011, will further strengthen their cooperation. It will take only three hours to travel from Xiamen to Shenzhen, which is half an hour away from Hong Kong.
Fujian is a manufacturing base with light industry predominating. Major export items include mechanical and electrical products, garments and footwear.

• Philip Chen, Chairman, John Swire & Sons (China) Ltd
John Swire & Sons (China) Ltd plays a pivotal role in formulating strategy for Swire’s development in the Chinese mainland. It also handles liaison, coordination, negotiation and research on behalf of the Swire group companies. Swire’s principal businesses in the Chinese mainland include large property development projects; airline passenger and cargo services to 20 mainland cities; aircraft maintenance services; the franchised bottling and distribution of Coca-Cola products in seven provinces; operation of a network of more than 90 well-known brand stores; packaging and distribution of sugar products; and the manufacturing of paint and aluminum cans.
Philip Chen is Chairman of John Swire and Sons (China) Ltd and Deputy Chairman of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, Executive Director of Swire Pacific Ltd and John Swire and Sons (Hong Kong) Ltd. Mr Chen joined the Swire Group in 1977, and was assigned to Cathay Pacific (CX) the same year. He became Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways in 2005 and also Chairman of HK Dragon Airlines. Under his leadership, HK has become an aviation hub and CX a hub airline. In addition, CX has achieved record-breaking revenue on several occasions and was voted best airline in 2006. From 1989 to 1992, Mr Chen was based in Beijing as Chief Executive and General Manager of Swire China. He has worked in Singapore and Japan before as well. Mr Chen has also published five books of travel stories.
Mr Chen will share his insights into China's growth potential, as well as his personal experience on living and working in China.
• Benjamin Hung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd
Standard Chartered is one of the leading international banks in the world. Publicly listed on both the London Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, Standard Chartered employs 73,000 people in more than 70 countries. The history of Standard Chartered in Hong Kong dates back to 1859. It is currently one of the HKSAR's three note-issuing banks and has been providing comprehensive consumer and wholesale banking services in the past 150 years.
Benjamin Hung is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. In addition to the CEO role, Mr Hung also engaged in various community services. He is currently Board member of the Airport Authority and Hospital Authority and also member of the Hong Kong Exchange Risk Management Committee and Insurance Advisory Committee. Mr Hung also chairs the Community Business Leadership, a non-profit organisation aimed at promoting corporate social responsibility in Hong Kong.
Mr Hung will share with us his insights on Hong Kong’s competitive edges and its role in the development of China’s financial market.

Chemcentral Ltd is a Hong Kong-based company with operations in Shanghai and Suzhou. Chemcentral Ltd first entered the China market in the early 1980s, focusing on the chemical distribution business. After expanding its Shanghai operation in 2001, Mr Young decided to move the company’s business development headquarters back to Hong Kong to develop its China and Asia regional markets. Mr Young will share his experience of operating an SME business in the changing environments of Hong Kong and Shanghai over the past 25 years.
• Zane Moi, Director, Asia Pacific, Research in Motion Ltd (Canada)
Canadian company Research in Motion (RIM), founded in 1984, is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless devices. RIM’s award-winning products include the BlackBerry® wireless platform, the wireless device product line, software development tools and radio modems. It also handles software/hardware licensing agreements. Hong Kong is RIM's core base in the Asia-Pacific and occupies a special place in RIM's history: Hong Kong-based telecom operator Hutchison – now 3 Hong Kong – was the first carrier to introduce BlackBerry to the region. Mr Moi will explain how RIM has benefited from a strong presence in Hong Kong to realise increasing opportunities in existing and new markets.
• Christian K-L Heilesen, Chief Executive Officer, Funmobile Ltd
Funmobile is a global marketer and distributor of mobile and online entertainment products and services. It offers a rich portfolio of mobile content, including music, mobile games, graphics, videos and infotainment delivered via a global mobile platform. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Funmobile distributes products and services in 19 countries, with more than one million subscribers and 104 wireless carrier connections.
Mr Heilesen, a passionate entrepreneur, started using his own network of popular websites to bring traffic to Fortune 500 advertisers through affiliate programmes in 1997 when he was 13 years old and residing in Denmark; he moved to Hong Kong to found Funmobile Ltd in 2003 and will detail how he has capitalised on Hong Kong's services and marketing talent.
