Peter Yam
joined Emerson Electric in 1986 and is currently President
of Emerson Greater China and Chairman of Emerson Electric
(China) Holdings Co., Ltd.
Peter Yam has been instrumental in Emersons investments
in China. He led the efforts in setting up Emersons
1st manufacturing operation in Baoan, China in 1992
and subsequently the Emerson Electric (China) Holdings or
EECH in Shanghai in 1993. Over 12,000 employees in China today,
Emerson has 30 legal entities in the country, including 23
wholly-owned enterprises and 7 JVs, mostly in the form
of manufacturing operations. Peter Yam has been chairman of
EECH since its inception (1993).
Peter Yam holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering
from the University of Hong Kong and an MBA from the University
of Chicago. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors
of Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, a
member of the Suzhou Industrial Park International Advisory
Committee, a Vice-President of the American Chamber of Commerce
in Hong Kong and also chairman of its China Business Committee.
