Introduction about the history of the Øresund Region by Mr Ole Christofferson, Senior Consultant Danish Chamber of Commerce.

Since the opening of the Øresund Bridge Danish-Swedish cooperation has been further strengthened. Seen from the perspective of the Baltic Sea region as well as of Europe, the opening of one of the longest bridges in the world, the Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, on July 1st 2000 was an important landmark. The Øresund Bridge means the realisation of a cross-national region of 3 million inhabitants in a 50 km radius.

The bridge notably strengthens Copenhagen and Southern Sweden and consolidates Denmark’s strategic role as the link between Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries.

14:00

Briefing by Marianne Flygare of the Malmø Chamber of Commerce

Note: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Southern Sweden is the only regional trade organisation that represents companies in Skåne, southern Halland, and the counties of Blekinge, Kronoberg and Kalmar. It is Sweden’s largest chamber of commerce. Member companies range from the small to the large and represent all industries.
The head office is located in Malmö and there are regional offices in Halmstad, Helsingborg, Kalmar, Karlskrona, Kristianstad and Växjö. This is where members can turn to for advice and support, legalisation of documents and be involved in many different events. There is also an office in Brussels and a representative in Berlin.
