Barry is a Canadian Chartered Accountant (qualified in 1985) and is an incorporated
partner in the Vancouver, Canada office of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Barry has over 22
years of experience advising on corporate transfer pricing and related international tax
planning services. Barry also qualified as a Hong Kong Certified Public Accountant in
1993. Barry has many Hong Kong and other Asian clients and thus travels to Asia twice a
year.
From 1990 to 1997, Barry was with the firm・s Hong Kong office. Barry was admitted into
their partnership in 1993 and he was the Hong Kong firm・s only partner born and raised in
North America. During his career, Barry has presented at seminars in ten different
countries.
Barry is the immediate past national chairman of the Hong Kong-Canada Business
Association (which has 1,500 members) and immediate past president of their Vancouver
section (which has 450 members). Barry has co-chaired two hugely successful Hong
Kong Forums in Canada (modeled after the Federation・s HK Forums), featuring high
profile Hong Kong and North American leaders.
Barry was 1995/96 chairman and 1994/95 president of the Canadian Chamber of
Commerce in Hong Kong. Barry was on Chief Secretary Anson Chan・s International
Business Community committee, which included travels to China to meet senior political
leaders and on the Canada China Business Council・s Hong Kong Advisory Board.
Barry is particularly proud of being a founding governor of the Canadian International
School in Hong Kong. Initiated by the Hong Kong government in the early 1990s and built
in the mid 1990s, this top-ranked School currently has 2,000 students, representing 17
different nationalities.
Barry is also on the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
